J'ai rarement lu un roman d'amour avec un personnage masculin si macho et irrespectueux, tant en paroles qu'en gestes. Mandie, l'héroïne de l'histoire, est amoureuse de Law Kincaid depuis qu'elle a 14 ans. Lorsqu'elle le revoit 15 ans plus tard, la réalité aurait dû la frapper; pourtant même en ayant vu la façon dont il se conduit avec les femmes, et après qu'il l'eut traitée de frigide et droguée à son insu « pour son bien », ses rêves d'adolescente subsistent. Qui l'eut cru?
